Write What You Know

Whether you realize it or not, everything in your work reflects things you've gone through, witnessed/heard someone else go through, watched on T.V. or read about. A lot of people will tell you, "You write what you know." It doesn't always make sense. You might think to yourself, "I just came up with that!" but if you think about it, something about what you already know helped spark an idea.

The point I want to make is a lot of people experience writer's block. Sometimes it's because you unknowingly don't like where your story is heading, or... you need to learn more about the situation, experience, characters, etc. The lack of knowledge is throwing off your writing game.

Think about it! When you know every detail about something, you can write every single thing out with no problem. It just flows through you. The best way to do that is to go outside and do stuff, read a book in the same category, watch T.V. in the same category, etc. Find your inspiration so you can "Write what you know." Make sure to make important notes about what you discover. It may help you in your current project, or future projects.

Hope this helps.
